Therapy of foot defects

Three-plane manual therapy of foot defects is a proprietary method developed by physiotherapist Barbara Zukunft-Huber, which is used in children from 3 months of age.

A physiotherapist, through specialized diagnostic grips, can carry out comprehensive diagnostics of foot defects in infants and older children.

After assessing the motor development and identifying the defects of the lower limbs occurring in a young patient, the physiotherapist adjusts the appropriate therapy, which mainly consists in stretching the contracted soft tissues and manual therapy. The physiotherapist's task is also to support and educate parents, because they are responsible for the therapeutic process at the next stages of work with the child. Parents work with the child at home with an individually selected package of exercises and, properly prepared by a physiotherapist, bandage the foot with special bandages.

Systematic performance of simple exercises 2-3 times a day at home and bandaging the feet, allows to eliminate the foot defect, place the feet in the right position, properly load the feet while walking and avoid possible surgical intervention, or plastering of the lower limbs or splinting.

Indications for the three-dimensional therapy of foot defects:

  • valgus foot - excessively stretched medial edge of the foot,
  • clubfoot - excessively stretched side edge of the foot,
  • Metatarsus varus - excessive plantar flexion of the foot,
  • Talipes calcaneovalgus - excessive dorsiflexion of the foot,
  • limitations of the mobility of the hip joints.
Diagnosis and early introduction of therapy in children (depending on the foot defect and its severity) brings good and quick results.
