Intensive blocks

Stays for children with sma – for over one year olds
(over 12 months of age)
What does the stay look like?
In our Center, we value an individual approach to the Patient and the selection of appropriate forms of therapy, therefore we start our stay for older children with SMA with a thorough examination of the child and analysis of needs. We pay attention to the child's posture, ranges of joint mobility, and the state of muscle tone. We check the patient's capabilities, using international functional assessment scales. During the therapy, we try to adjust the environment and the type of activity so as to enable the child to function independently, adequately to their age and abilities. We are working on building independence and a sense of agency while having fun.
If it is possible, we help to choose techniques allowing independent transfer to a wheelchair and moving around in it. It is extremely important for us to build muscle strength as well as maintain and improve ranges of mobility. We are helped in this by appropriately selected orthopedic supplies and rehabilitation equipment.
